BARCELONA – After five days in Spain, the Oklahoma men's basketball team's journey in Barcelona came to an end.
The Sooners started their travel August 1st and departed Norman for Dallas.
OU left its Dallas hotel prior to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2 and started its two-day trek to Spain. The Sooners jumped on their first flight to Philadelphia and arrived just after 5:30 p.m. (ET). Oklahoma then boarded its flight to Barcelona, an overnight excursion that lasted a little under eight hours, and promptly were greeted with the early morning sun.
The Sooners were overseas.
A bus tour from the airport to the hotel provided the hoopers with a brief chance to see the city before checking into the Hotel Majestic. The Sooners spent the afternoon walking the open-air museum of a city and getting acclimated to their new surrounds.
Day two in Barcelona marked a visit to the Olympic Stadium, which hosted the 1992 Summer Olympic and Paralympic games, and the Olympic beach. The Sooners would then turn their attention to the first of three foreign tour games, a contest against the
Mataro Select.
After a morning visit to La Sagrada Familia, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, they were free to explore Barcelona.
On the second to last day in Barcelona, the Sooners visited Camp Nou, the home stadium and training site for FC Barcelona. They walked through the stadium, the locker rooms and the Barca museum before ending their tour on the pitch.
The Sooners would then trade in their cleats for basketball shoes and head to their final game in Barcelona.
The 2022-23 squad earned their second victory in Barcelona and topped
Maresme Select 103-71, tallying 197 points between the two games in Spain.
The final day in the city allowed the Sooners one last chance to explore the city. A late-night flight to Paris brought the Sooners time in Spain to an end.
