Sooners Set for Texas Road Trip

NORMAN – The Oklahoma men's tennis team is set for a set of matches in Texas beginning with Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, Friday evening. The Sooners are slated to face the Red Raiders at 6 p.m. CT, before heading to No. 4 Baylor in Waco, Texas, Sunday afternoon. Competition against the Bears is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.

MATCH DAY BASICS

First serve at Texas Tech is set for 6 p.m. CT on Friday. The contest can be followed through live stats and live stream.

Sunday's competition against Baylor is slated for 1 p.m. CT. Fans can follow along with the match through live stats and Playsight.

LAST TIME OUT

The Sooners (13-5) defeated Oklahoma State 4-3 at the Headington Family Tennis Center, Friday evening, to open conference play. 

The Cowboys struck first taking the doubles point, but OU bounced back and clinched the match with wins on courts two, three, five and six. 

No. 101 Mark Mandlik finished singles action first, tallying a 6-3, 6-4 win over Maxim Verboven on court four. No. 125 Jordan Hasson wrapped up play next for OU, defeating Leighton Allen 6-0, 6-4 at the five spot. On court six, Justin Schlageter downed Joseph Chen 6-2, 7-5. 

The Cowboys struck back with a win at the No. 1 spot, but Alex Martinez responded with a three-set victory on court two over Alex Garcia, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, to clinch the match. 

UP NEXT

OU returns home to close out the remainder of regular-season competition with matches against Texas and TCU. The Red River Rivalry against the Longhorns is slated for 4:30 p.m. CT, Thursday, April 14, at the Headington Family Tennis Center and will be broadcasted on Bally Sports OK. The Sooners' match against TCU will take place Saturday, April 16, at 5 p.m. CT.
