Sooners Fall to Red Raiders

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Oklahoma men's tennis team fell to the Texas Tech Red Raiders 4-3 at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas, Friday evening.
Texas Tech tallied the doubles points after recording wins on courts two and three. No. 73 Welsh Hotard and Alex Martinez picked up a quick 6-2 win against Piotr Pawlak and Issac Arevalo at the top spot. On court two, Texas Tech's Reed Collier and Dimitrios Azoidis notched a 6-3 victory over Baptiste Anselmo and Mark Mandlik. Action came down to the third court, but the Red Raiders earned the doubles point after Francisco Vittar and Olle Wallin notched a 6-3 win on court three over Mason Beiler and Nathan Han.
In singles action, junior Justin Schlageter tied the match at 1-all with the first singles win on the night. Schlageter defeated Texas Tech's Pawlak 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 spot. The Red Raiders responded and Wallin tallied a 6-4, 7-5 win over Mandlik on court three.
Martinez tied the match at 2-all with a 7-5, 7-6 (3) win over Collier at the No. 2 line. No. 41 Beiler pulled the Sooners ahead, defeating Arevalo 7-5, 6-2 at the top spot. The Red Raiders tied the match at 3-all when Azoidis earned a 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-3 victory over Anselmo on court four. Action came down to court five with Ribero securing the match for Texas Tech in 7-6 (3), 5-7, 7-6 (1) fashion over Jordan Hasson.
