NWCA Honors Six with Scholar All-American Award

Manheim, Pa. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association named six Oklahoma wrestlers to its 2022 Division I Scholar All-America team on Friday afternoon.
 
Joey Prata, Jacob Butler, Justin Thomas, Keegan Moore, Jake Woodley and Josh Heindselman are all listed amongst the honorees. They earned their spots by having at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and by having been a NCAA tournament qualifier in the same academic year.
 
For Thomas, it is his fourth year in a row receiving the award. It is Woodley's third straight inclusion and Heindselman's second straight. Prata, Butler and Moore all earn the award for the first time.
 
"On behalf of the NWCA Board of Directors, it is my honor to recognize these exceptional athletes and teams," NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer said. "Wrestling takes much focus and sacrifice and we are proud to honor these wrestlers for their obvious commitment to their academic pursuits!"
 
The six Sooners honored is tied for the third most in the country, alongside four other Big 12 programs. 289 total individuals were given the award spread across 74 teams.
 
OU now has 48 all-time NWCA Scholar All-Americans. The organization was founded in 1997.
