NORMAN – Oklahoma's
Tanner Groves has been named Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week and shares the honor with Baylor's Kendall Brown. Groves earned newcomer honors for the third time this season.
Groves tallied his second double-double in as many games against West Virginia and finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Spokane, Wash., product helped OU win back-to-back games for the first time in conference play this season.
In the regular season finale against K-State, Groves tallied 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. He helped Oklahoma top the Wildcats in Manhattan for the first time since 2012.
Groves finished the week shooting 61.1% (11-for-18) from the field and 44.4% (4-for-9) from deep.
He was the only Sooner this season to earn conference weekly honors.
Groves and the Sooners open the 2022 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship Thursday, March 10 at 6 p.m. against No. 2 seed Baylor at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.
