NORMAN – No. 7 seed Oklahoma (18-14, 7-11 Big 12) continues its journey in the 2022 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship Friday, March 11 against No. 3 seed Texas Tech (24-8, 12-6 Big 12) in the semifinal round at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.
OU earned a 72-67 victory over No. 2 seed Baylor Thursday night. Five Sooners finished in double figures and Jacob Groves led the team with a season-high 15 points and nine rebounds.
Oklahoma recorded its fifth victory over a team ranked in the top 15 of the AP Poll Thursday and is tied with three other squads for the most top-15 wins during the 2021-22 season.

Friday's game will be televised on ESPN2 with Jon Sciambi, Fran Fraschilla and Kris Budden on the call.The contest is scheduled to tip at 8:30 p.m. CT and will air on the Sooner Sports Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM The Franchise in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa; Varsity Radio App) with Toby Rowland and Kevin Henry announcing.
SCOUTING THE RED RAIDERS
- Texas Tech opened the 2022 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship with a 72-41 victory over Iowa State. The Red Raiders are 2-2 in their last four games with a win over K-State and losses at Oklahoma State and TCU.
- TTU head coach Mark Adams was recently named a Naismith Men's Coach of the Year semifinalist and was the AP Big 12 Coach of the Year. Bryson Williams earned unanimous All-Big 12 First Team honors and was selected to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team. Kevin Obanor, Marcus Santos-Silva, Adonis Arms and Kevin McCullar were each honored with All-Big 12 honorable mention selections.
- Texas Tech ranks ninth nationally in field goal percentage defense (38.5%), 13th in scoring defense (60.7%), 17th in scoring margin (11.7) 19th in rebound margin (6.5) and turnovers forced (16.0) and 29th in total steals.
OKLAHOMA VS. TEXAS TECH TIDBITS
- Texas Tech and Oklahoma will meet for the 70th time and OU holds a 2-1 advantage in neutral-site games. The first meeting between the two programs was in the All-College Tournament in Oklahoma City during the 1944-45 season. OU won 61-31.
- In the Jan. 26, 2016, meeting between OU and TTU, Oklahoma amassed a program-record 14 blocks, tying the mark set against Texas in 1990.
- Oklahoma's Blake Griffin corralled 23 boards against the Red Raiders Feb. 14, 2009, to tie a Lloyd Noble Center record held by Harvey Grant and Stacey King. Griffin also led Oklahoma with 40 points and was the first player in Big 12 history with a 40-point and 20-rebound game.
- The 2009 meeting between the two programs at Lloyd Noble Center was the third-largest paid crowd in program history as LNC welcomed 13,245 fans. OU won the contest 95-74.
- David Little, Oklahoma's 27th all-time leading scorer with 1,229 points, transferred to Oklahoma from Texas Tech. Little was named 1982 Big Eight Newcomer of the Year and was selected in the 1983 NBA Draft (61st) by the Denver Nuggets.
OKLAHOMA LAST TIME OUT | BIG 12 QUARTERFINALS
- No. 7 seed Oklahoma (18-14, 7-11 Big 12) earned a 72-67 quarterfinals victory over No. 2 seed Baylor (26-6, 14-4 Big 12) Thursday, March 10.
- Jacob Groves led the Sooners with a team-high 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting. The Spokane, Wash., product scored 12 points in the final 20 minutes. Groves was joined in double figures by Umoja Gibson (14), Marvin Johnson (12), Jordan Goldwire (10) and Jalen Hill (10).
- The Sooners entered halftime down six and tallied 11 turnovers to Baylor's one. OU responded by committing only five turnovers in the second half and shot 63.0% (17-27) from the field and 66.7% (6-9) from deep.
