NORMAN – University of Oklahoma forward
Tanner Groves has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Men's Basketball Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America Thursday.
Groves completed his undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary studies at Eastern Washington prior to his arrival in Norman and was a three-time Big Sky All-Academic team honoree. The Spokane, Wash., product, was named 2020-21 Big Sky Player of the Year.
Groves is pursuing a Master's of Organizational Leadership degree at Oklahoma and was recently named one of 10 finalist for the Senior Class Award.
In his first season in the Crimson and Cream, he has started all 25 games he has appeared in and is the team leader with 12.6 points per game. Groves has a team-best five 20-plus point games this season and has led Oklahoma in scoring in eight contests and in rebounds 12 times. He has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week twice.
Groves is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be announced March 15.
