NORMAN – With the 2023 season just around the corner, Sooner Nation will get their first look at the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team, who's ready to show off its routines at its annual Intrasquad set for Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT inside the Sam Viersen Gymnastics Center. Admission for the meet is free and open to the public.
"This is a unique opportunity to see what we do up close!, head coach
K.J. Kindler said. "We want to give fans this incredible experience while challenging our team under pressure."
The Sooners will perform full routines on all four events and be judged in front of fans. There will be drawings for various prizes after each rotation and post-meet autographs with your 2023 Sooners available to those in attendance.
For fans coming to the intrasquad, the Sam Viersen Gymnastics Center is located in Norman, north of the Lloyd Noble Center (LNC) by the intersection of South Jenkins Avenue and Imhoff Avenue. Parking is available across the street at the LNC.
Coming off its fifth NCAA Gymnastics Championship, the Sooners return eight gymnasts who combined for 20 All-America honors in seniors
Ragan Smith,
Olivia Trautman and
Allie Stern; junior duo
Audrey Davis and
Katherine LeVasseur; and sophomores
Jordan Bowers,
Danielle Sievers and
Danae Fletcher.
Trautman and Stern have opted to use their extra year due to COVID-19. In addition to the returners, the Sooners bring in freshmen
Faith Torrez and
Ava Siegfeldt, who are both former elite gymnasts.
The most anticipated matchups of the 2023 season will take place inside Lloyd Noble Center with a pair of teams that participated in the 2022 NCAA Championships Finals.
