NORMAN – University of Oklahoma soccer and head coach Mark Carr announced Thursday the addition of sophomore transfer Brooke Amos from Rogers State.
The second-year player will join the Sooners this spring and have three years of eligibility in Norman. A native of Tulsa, Okla., Amos is the younger sister of current senior Bri Amos.
"I decided to transfer to OU to be in environment that allows me to grow as a student-athlete," said Amos. "OU provides the atmosphere for me to be challenged and be surrounded by a great support system. I have grown up an OU fan and can't wait to compete as a student-athlete here!"
In her first-year campaign at Rogers State, Amos played in 16 of the team's 18 games (1,288 minutes played), making 15 starts in the midfield. An All-MIAA (Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association) Honorable Mention as a freshman, Amos scored one goal, a game-winner, and attempted 16 shots, putting six on goal. A talented player on the defensive side of the ball, Amos helped RSU to five shutouts in 2021.
"We are excited to add more depth to our midfield unit with Brooke," said Carr. "Brooke is an Oklahoma native and had a very good freshman year at RSU. She is highly motivated and wants to test her abilities at our level. Through our conversations, she was determined and adamant that she wants to be a contributor to the next steps in our project here at OU."
Amos joins fellow transfers Emma Hawkins (Central Arkansas), Taylor Hunter (North Texas) and Kinzie Short (Nebraska) in joining the Sooners for 2022, along with a talented incoming freshman class.
The Sooners will hit the pitch this month in preparation for a spring slate of exhibition contests, with dates and times to be announced.
