LUBBOCK, Texas — The University of Oklahoma soccer team dropped its Big 12 conference opener at Texas Tech on Thursday night, 7-0.

The Sooners opened the game on the attack with a pair of shots from senior Bri Amos, one put on goal that had to be saved by the Tech keeper in the second minute.

The Red Raiders responded quickly with a flurry of goals, scoring a pair in the 6th and 8th minutes.

Tech added another pair in the 20th and 33rd minute as Kirsten Davis, a 2020 NWSL draftee, notched her third goal of the first half.

The Red Raiders added a trio of goals in the second half (49', 70', 75') before the Sooners battled in the closing minutes, taking three shots in the final 15 minutes.

Seniors Megan Reilly and Jazzy Richards combined for a pair of looks in the 81st minute. Reilly's free kick from outside the 18-yard box went just high off the crossbar and bounced back in as Richards attempted a header on the rebound but the try sailed just high.

Texas Tech held the advantage in shots with 11 to OU's five while OU attempted six corners to Tech's two.

Amos took a pair of shots for the Sooners, putting one on goal, while Reilly, senior Erika Middleton and freshman Keera Melenhorst all had one look each.

The Sooners look to bounce back Sunday as Red River rival Texas comes to Norman. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start time at John Crain Field and can be seen on SoonerSports.tv. Tickets are still available on SoonerSports.com/tickets and the first 250 fans at the match will receive a free OU Soccer scarf.
