September 17, 2021 | Women's Tennis

NORMAN — A trio of Oklahoma women's tennis players are set to open the 2021 fall slate at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic in Milwaukee, Wisc., Sept. 18-20.

"We are excited to compete in the longest running collegiate event," head coach Audra Cohen said. "While this is an individual event, each match is an opportunity to demonstrate our standard of excellence as a team."

The nation's top-ranked doubles pairing in Ivana and Carmen Corley are set to represent the Crimson and Cream in the doubles bracket. The sisters from Albuquerque, N.M., open their tournament in the round of 16, beginning at 8 a.m. CT on Saturday. Singles competition is expected to begin following the conclusion of doubles.

Freshman and Tulsa, Oklahoma, product Emma Staker will make her collegiate debut beginning at 9 a.m. in singles competition. No. 4-seeded Carmen Corley and No. 8-seeded Ivana Corley will also compete in the singles bracket.

The Sooners have a history of success at the Milwaukee Classic as former Sooners, Oleksandra Korashvili and Jasmine Asghar took home the doubles title in 2019.

The three-day tournament will feature a 32-player singles draw and 16-team doubles bracket, with dozens of Division I opponents awaiting the Sooners.
