NORMAN – Third baseman Peyton Graham notched four hits and shortstop Brandon Zaragoza drove in four runs, but the Oklahoma baseball team fell by scores of 4-1 and 3-2 to Georgia Southern Saturday at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Ā
Graham went 3 for 4 with a walk and Zaragoza tallied two hits and an RBI in the second game of the doubleheader. First baseman Tyler Hardman registered three hits on the day, including two in the opener. Center fielder Tanner Tredaway doubled home the tying run in the sixth inning of game two.

Oklahoma struck first in the series opener, which was delayed until Saturday by inclement weather Friday evening. Graham hit a leadoff double in the second inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Zaragoza.
Ā
Georgia Southern went ahead in the fourth inning on a two-run home run by catcher JP Tighe, and then scored two unearned runs in the sixth inning on a two-out single by center fielder Parker Biederer and a wild pitch.
Ā
Jake Bennett (3-3) struck out five over 5.0 innings in the start. Carson Carter punched out three over 2.0 relief innings and Christian Ruebeck tossed a scoreless ninth inning with a strikeout. Tyler Owens (6-0) went 7.0 innings for the Eagles and Nick Jones pitched two frames to earn his 11th save.

The Sooners took an early lead in the nightcap, once again plating a run in the second inning. Designated hitter Jimmy Crooks led off the frame with a double and scored on Zaragoza's one-out double down the right field line.
Ā
After Georgia Southern took a 2-1 lead with runs in the fifth and sixth innings, OU responded with the tying run in the bottom half of the sixth. Tredaway launched a double into the right center field alley, scoring Crooks from first base to make it 2-2.
Ā
The Eagles tied the game 1-1 in the fifth on an RBI single by second baseman Steven Curry and moved ahead in the sixth on a sacrifice squeeze bunt by catcher Matt Anderson. Anderson and Biederer hit consecutive doubles in the top of the ninth to score the go-ahead run.
Ā
Oklahoma had a pair of two-out baserunners in the eighth inning after Zaragoza singled then stole second, and catcher Justin Mitchell walked. In the ninth inning, Graham hit a one-out single and right fielder Brett Squires drew a two-out walk before the game ended.
Ā
Wyatt Olds went 5.2 frames in the start, striking out five batters and allowing just four hits. Luke Taggart (1-5) struck out the first five batters he faced and ended his stint with six punch outs over 2.1 innings.
