DENTON, Texas – The Oklahoma soccer team battled until the final whistle blew, but dropped a 1-0 result at defending C-USA champion North Texas in Denton on Thursday night.
The Sooners and Mean Green went back and forth in the first half, with
Bri Amos creating Oklahoma's best chance of the night in the 40th minute, but the UNT goalkeeper was able to keep Amos and the Sooners off the board and sent the match into the break scoreless.
In the 59th minute, Oklahoma was called for a handball in the box, resulting in a North Texas penalty. UNT's Michelle Gonzalez beat OU keeper
Nikki Panas on the penalty to give the Mean Green a 1-0 lead that they wouldn't surrender.
The Sooners fired four shots on the night but weren't able to beat the UNT keeper and backline that tallied 12 clean sheets in 2019 and hasn't given up a goal this season.

Bri Amos led the Sooners on Thursday, accounting for three of Oklahoma's four shots, including the only one on net.
Nikki Panas made three saves as the Mean Green took 17 shots, with four on net.
Oklahoma (0-9-1) continues its season on March 13 when it travels to Lawrence, Kan., for a match with Iowa State (2-6-2). The Cyclones earned a 1-0 decision in the fall over the Sooners.
