NORMAN — The Oklahoma soccer team heads to Lawrence, Kan., for a neutral-site match with Iowa State on Saturday afternoon. The contest will mark the start of a five-game conference slate this spring.

Oklahoma (0-9-1) will look to bounce back from a hard-fought 1-0 loss at North Texas on March 4 where the Sooners put four shots on net but surrendered a penalty in the 59th minute to drop the result tp the Mean Green. The Sooners will look to avenge a 1-0 loss to Iowa State (2-6-2) when the teams met in the fall.

"We're looking forward to getting after it on Saturday afternoon," head coach Mark Carr said. "Anytime that you get into Big 12 play it is exciting and presents some tough challenges that we look forward to try and meet."

The match is not being broadcast but fans can follow the live stats and @OU_Soccer on social media for in-game updates.

MATCH BASICS

The Sooners will look to secure the first win of first-year coach Mark Carr's Oklahoma career on Saturday. The neutral-site game marks the third of five games away from Norman for the Sooners, dating back to last fall.

OU has been on the verge of victory multiple times this season, dropping seven results decided by a single goal.

RUN IT BACK

Oklahoma and Iowa State met in the fall season, with the Cyclones winning a close 1-0 result despite being outshot by the Sooners 13-9. Nikki Panas was strong in net for Carr's team, collecting five saves, tied for the fourth-most of her season.

COACH CARR'S THOUGHTS

On Iowa State:
"Iowa State is a really good, possession-based team. They're great at making the field big and spreading teams out, so one of the keys for us will be to make sure that we stay organized when we don't have the ball."

On the Sooners:
"When we look at our match with them last fall, it really was a completely different team for us, so we're excited to see what this new group can do against them. We learned a few things in the fall versus Iowa State that we'll use this weekend."

UP NEXT

Oklahoma continues its road trip on March 20 when it travels to Ft. Worth, Texas, for a showdown with TCU at 7 p.m.
