NORMAN — No. 1 ranked Oklahoma men's gymnastics team tied No. 4 Stanford on Saturday afternoon inside McCasland Field House with a score of 409.300-409.300.

In a tight battle, both teams were pressured in the last two rotations to push ahead to win the meet.

"In the fifth and sixth rotations, we did pretty good gymnastics and kept the pressure on them," said OU head coach Mark Williams. "In the end, I was pleased."

OU rotated Olympic order this afternoon, beginning on floor exercise. Senior captain Gage Dyer returned to the floor after a shoulder injury and won the event title with a 14.600. Junior Morgan Seyler and junior Spencer Goodell added a 14.250 and a 14.200 to tally up a 70.600 overall score for the Sooners.

In the second rotation on pommel horse, OU registered a 64.100. Seyler led the Sooners in the event with a 13.100. Goodell and redshirt senior Matt Wenske chipped in respective scores of 12.950 and a 12.900.

On still rings in the third rotation, the Sooners tallied a total of 67.600. Goodell put up the highest score for the Sooners with a 13.800, also good for a career best. Seyler put up a career-high score of 13.550 in the event, as well. Redshirt Senior Matt Wenske helped with a score of 13.700.

Moving to vault in the fourth rotation, Oklahoma put up their highest event score of the afternoon, 72.800. Redshirt senior Mason Menser registered a 14.850, good for a career best on his senior night. Each Sooner score came in at a 14.300 or better.

Oklahoma recorded a season-best tally of 68.900 on parallel bars in the fifth rotation. Three Sooners improved their career-high scores. Senior Alexei Vernyi went above and beyond his previous career-best score of 13.600 with a 14.050 set. Sophomore Alan Camillus improved his 13.700 to a 14.050, while Goodell put up a 13.900, also good for a career-high score.

In the sixth and final rotation, Oklahoma competed on high bar. Redshirt sophomore Cesar Gracia led the Sooners with a 13.500. Vernyi's 13.250 and sophomore Jack Freeman's 13.200 helped tally OU's overall score on the event to 65.300.

Goodell completed the all-around with a meet-best 82.000, while Wenske went 80.800.

With the tie, the program's win streak inside the Field House remains at 76, a winning streak inside the historic venue since 2007.

"It's good for us, going into the postseason. I consider Stanford being one of the very best teams and we're hanging right there with them."

Oklahoma will travel to Berkeley, Calif., next weekend to compete against the University of California.
