NORMAN – Following a week of back-to-back 20-plus-point games, Oklahoma women's basketball guard
Ana Llanusa was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Llanusa, a redshirt senior, led the Sooners (7-1) to a pair of non-conference wins over SMU and Mississippi State last week. The accolade marks the first Big 12 Player of the Week honor of her career, adding to her pair of Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors in 2018.
The Choctaw, Okla., product averaged 23 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals on the week. She stuffed the stat sheet on the road at SMU, pouring in 25 points while adding eight boards, six assists and three steals in a 12-point win. The guard was instrumental in the Sooners' dominant win over Mississippi State on Saturday, scoring 13 points in the first quarter en route to 21 points on the day. She finished the contest with four steals, three rebounds and an assist.
Llanusa is the first Sooner to be named the Big 12 Player of the Week since
Madi Williams on Jan. 4, 2021, following her school-record 45-point outing vs. West Virginia.
The Sooners return to the floor Tuesday when they host Eastern Michigan at the Lloyd Noble Center. The game is the second of a five-game homestand to close the non-conference schedule.
