Groves Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

NORMAN – Oklahoma's Tanner Groves has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after leading OU to a 74-67 victory over then-No. 14 Florida last week.
Groves led Oklahoma in points (20) and rebounds (8) in the victory over the Gators. The Spokane, Wash., product, shot 8-for-11 (72.7%) from the field and added two assists and a block.
It is the second time this season Groves has been named newcomer of the week and its the third game of the season he has scored 20-plus points.
Groves is Oklahoma's team leader in points (15.3) and rebounds per game (6.5). He is third in the Big 12 and 46th nationally in field goal percentage (59.0%).
The Sooners and Groves host Butler Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. The game will be available on ESPN2.
