OU Beats UTA in Wire-to-Wire Win

NORMAN – Umoja Gibson led a trio of Sooners that finished in double figures and Oklahoma (9-2, 0-0 Big 12) beat UT Arlington (3-7, 0-0 Sun Belt) wire-to-wire Sunday at Lloyd Noble Center.
Gibson tallied a team-best 14 points, eight rebounds and four 3-pointers. The Waco, Texas, product finished 4-for-8 from three and hit three 3-pointers in the first half.
Tanner Groves added 13 points and led Oklahoma with six field goals (6-for-12). Groves added six rebounds, two assists and a block. Jalen Hill rounded out the group that finished in double digits, adding 12 points on 5-for-5 shooting with four rebounds.
The Sooners jumped out to an 11-0 start, which was caped with a Gibson 3-pointer.
With a little under seven minutes remaining in the first half, Groves made a layup and was fouled, completing the 3-point play, which pushed Oklahoma's lead to 14.
OU continued to dominate both ends of the court and led 35-18 at the half. The Sooners held UT Arlington to 25.0% shooting (6-for-24).
Oklahoma used an 8-2 spurt to start the second frame and did not allow a UTA field goal until 16:48.
The Sooners realized its largest lead of the game after back-to-back buckets by Hill, pushing OU's lead to 28 (35-63) with 6:28 remaining.
