NORMAN –  (RV/RV) Oklahoma (8-2, 0-0 Big 12) hosts UT Arlington (3-6, 0-0 Sun Belt) Sunday, Dec. 19 at Lloyd Noble Center for its first game since beating then-No. 12 Arkansas Dec. 11.

Against the Razorbacks, all five starters finished in double figures and were led by Elijah Harkless' 21 points and 11 rebounds. The Sooners used a pair for runs, one to start the game and another when Arkansas narrowed the lead to three, to beat UA in the inaugural Crimson and Cardinal Classic. 

The victory over the Razorbacks marks the second this season the Sooners have beat a team ranked in the top 15 of the AP Poll. OU beat then-No. 14 Florida Dec. 1.

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS

  • UT Arlington (3-6, 0-0 Sun Belt) last played Thursday, Dec. 16 and lost to Oral Roberts 71-61 in Tulsa. UTA has won two of its last three games and has victories over Lamar (56-47) and UC Santa Barbara (70-62).
  • The Mavericks opened the season with a 88-45 loss to Oklahoma State Nov. 9 and bounced back with a 104-75 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor. UTA lost four-consecutive games before its win over UC Santa Barbara. UT Arlington also played fellow Oklahoma foe Utah State Nov. 27 and lost 80-61 in Logan, Utah.
  • David Azore is UTA's leading scorer (13.6) and the only to average double-figure points. Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu is 12th nationally in blocks per game (3.1).

SERIES HISTORY: OKLAHOMA vs. UT ARLINGTON

  • Oklahoma and UT Arlington are slated to play for the eighth time overall and seventh time in Norman. The two schools opened play Jan. 25, 1969 and the Sooners earned the 32-point victory (89-57). 
  • Jordan Woodward's 12 assists in the 2013 meeting against UT Arlington are tied for the 25th most assists in a single-game in program history.

  • The Sooners are second in the Big 12 and 10th nationally in field goal percentage (49.9%). OU is 35th nationally in assists per game (16.5) and 32nd in 3-point field goal percentage defense (27.7).

  • Tanner Groves is third in the Big 12 and 38th nationally in field goal percentage (59.2).
  • Jordan Goldwire in third in the Big 12 in total assists (44) and 74th nationally. Goldwire is tied for 59th among active career leaders in steals (144).
