Men's Tennis Unveils Spring Schedule

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma head men's tennis coach Nick Crowell and Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the Sooners 2022 spring schedule on Monday.
The Sooners are slated to compete in 24 matches, hosting 14 at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla. Thirteen of the Sooners matchups feature teams who finished the season in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's rankings.
"We are excited to get started mid-January with this team," Crowell said. "We have a great home schedule with 14 matches and three of our five Big 12 matches are at home."
OU will kick off the spring season at home, playing a double-header against Incarnate Word and Bryant on Jan. 15, and Purdue on Jan. 17. The Sooners will continue their home competition, hosting Abilene Christian on Jan. 22 and Nebraska on the 23rd.
The team will hit the road for ITA Kickoff Weekend in Oxford, Miss., Jan. 29-30. No. 4 seed OU is set to face the top seeded Ole Miss in the first round of competition, while the No. 2 seed Illinois with face the three seed N.C. State. The winners of those matches will face each other Jan. 30 with a trip to the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championships on the line. Indoor Nationals will take place in Seattle, Wash., Feb. 18-20.
The Sooners will return home to face Wichita State on Feb. 4, and Arkansas on Feb. 6. The team will cap back-to-back home weekends facing off against Alabama on Feb. 11 and Drake on Feb. 13.
OU's home slate will continue Feb. 25 and 27, hosting Texas A&M and Baylor, respectively.
The Sooners will then hit the road to face Arizona and Arizona State. The squad will compete against Arizona on March 4 in Tucson, Ariz., then head to Tempe, Ariz., to play Arizona State on March 6.
OU will return to the Sooner State to face Tulsa in Tulsa on March 13 before hitting the road to face Texas in Austin on March 26.
The Sooners will host in-state rivals Oklahoma State on April 1, kicking off Big 12 competition.
The team will travel to Texas to face Texas Tech in Lubbock on April 8 and Baylor in Waco on April 10.
The Sooners will close out their home slate on April 14 and 16 hosting Texas and TCU, respectively.
The Big 12 Championships will take place April 21-24 in Fort Worth, Texas.
NCAA Regionals are set for May 6-8, with the winners advancing to Super Regionals May 13-14. NCAA Championships will take place May 18-28. Locations for all three events will be announced at a later time.
"We are excited to be back at full capacity and we hope to get back to having huge energetic crowds this year," said Crowell. "We encourage everyone to come out and support this hungry group of guys."
The Sooners' home competition will be open to the public with free admission.
