Tony Madrigal made big jumps in their weight class rankings following their titles at the Michigan State Open.
Reigning Big 12 champion Oklahoma swapped positions in the poll with conference foe Northern Iowa, who was inactive over the weekend. The poll is based on dual meet results, and the Sooners will have their first dual of the season this Saturday against West Virginia.
In the weight class rankings, multiple Oklahoma wrestlers moved up after strong performances in East Lansing. Prata, in his action for the Sooners, won four matches on his way to the title in the 125-pound bracket. His success saw him make his first appearance in the FloWrestling (No. 22) and Open Mat (No. 20) polls while moving up in Intermat to No. 24.
Madrigal, who was named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday, was the biggest mover of any Sooner or anyone else in his weight class. Madrigal moved up 13, 11, and 7 spots across the FloWrestling, Intermat, and Open Mat polls, respectively. He now ranks at Nos. 10/9/13.
At 141, redshirt senior
Dom Demas' poll positions looked similar to last week's at 13/9/8 after he spent the weekend competing at the U23 World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
Justin Thomas also did not compete over the weekend, and his ranking had little movement coming in at Nos. 18/13/14.
Senior
Mitch Moore took second place in his bracket in East Lansing, winning three of his five matches via pin. His ranking stayed relatively the same at 18/16/13.
Joe Grello, the Rutgers graduate transfer, has yet to make his debut for Oklahoma, but ranks as the No. 29 wrestler at 165 pounds according to Intermat.
At 174, redshirt senior
Anthony Mantanona moved out of the FloWrestling ranks to be an Honorable Mention but moves up to No. 27 in Intermat and makes his first appearance of the season in the Open Mat poll at No. 19.
Junior
Darrien Roberts remains an Honorable Mention in FloWrestling's 184-pound poll but earned his first ranking in Intermat's poll at No. 26. Roberts took third place at the Michigan State Open via decision over Layne Malczewski of Michigan State who was previously ranked No. 24.
All-American Josh Woodley won the title in the 197-pound division on Saturday, defeating Michigan's Patrick Brucki who was No. 8 at the time according to Flowrestling. Woodley's ranks sit at 6/9/7 this week.
Redshirt sophomore
Josh Heindselman finished in second place in the 285-pound division at the Michigan State Open with two victories and he dropped one spot in the FloWrestling and Open Mat rankings while his Intermat ranking remained unchanged.
Oklahoma wrestling returns to the mat in Morgantown, W.Va., on Saturday when they take on West Virginia.
