Wrestling Signs Three to 2021-22 Class

NORMAN — Oklahoma wrestling head coachĀ Lou RosselliĀ and his staff announced the signing of three wrestlers in the 2022Ā class on Wednesday. Joey Cruz, Christian Forbes and John Wiley, three of the nation's top prospects, will join the Sooners for the 2022-23 season.Ā The Sooners are the only team in the Big 12 with three incoming wrestlers ranked inside the top 10 of their weight class per FloWrestling.Ā

Joey Cruz / Bullard High School / Bullard, Calif. / 125 Pounds

  • Ranked as the No. 13 overall prospect nationally and the No. 3Ā recruit at 120 pounds by FloWrestling.Ā 
  • Spent time as the nation's top recruit at 120 pounds per MatScouts last season.Ā 
  • Finished as the California state runner-up in 2021Ā and grabbed third in 2019.Ā 
  • 2020 Grappler Fall Classic 119-pound champion
  • 2020 USA Wrestling Preseason Nationals finalist
  • 2020 Doc Buchanan Invitational finalist
  • Reno Tournament of Champions Champion
  • Third at the 2019 Cadet World Team Trials in freestyle at XXX kg.Ā
