OU Soccer Seniors: In Their Own Words

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma soccer team plays its regular-season finale Thursday night versus Baylor at John Crain Field. The match will also serve as Senior Night, honoring OU's 13 seniors that have played a pivotal part in ushering in a new era of Oklahoma Soccer. Head coach Mark Carr and the seniors reflected on their time at OU and their gratitude for the program in their own words below.

Carr on the senior class: "This senior and super senior class collectively means a lot to me. When I first arrived at OU, we needed to move quickly to reset and realign our program and these student-athletes were instrumental in their buy-in to that process. They have learned so much and have brought us to this point where we are today. I am so proud of them all and I will forever be grateful to these strong, courageous, young women on how they intentionally worked every day to move OU soccer forward and leave our program in a better place."

BRI AMOS

2020-21

Bri Amos: "I'm thankful for being welcomed by the OU family with open arms and making lifelong friends."
Mark Carr:Ā "I am so happy Bri joined our program a year ago. She has blossomed and developed in so many ways and to see the young woman she is today is truly amazing.Ā She has been such an important piece of our program and has produced consistently this year and showed up in key moments."

ERIKA MIDDLETON

2019-21

Middleton LeadErika Middleton: "I'm thankful for my time here at OU and all the lifelong friendships, memories and lessons this school and sport have brought me. One of my best memories being a part of OU soccer would probably have to be when we beat Arkansas in OT at Arkansas my sophomore year, the energy in that game was just insane."
Mark Carr: "Erika is one of the most resilient, tough and driven student athletes I have worked alongside. She has fought much adversity in her time at OU and she has always responded positively. Erika as a teammate is known for her selflessness, strong outgoing personality and supportive nature."

OLIVIA ODLE

Lead, SOC at WVUOlivia Odle: "I'm thankful for my time at OU because of how much I have grown as a player, person and student and that I was able to be a part of something bigger than myself!"
Mark Carr: "I'm so proud of the strong, confident, soccer student athlete Olivia has become. She has grown and learned so much about herself in her short time hear at OU. More than anything, she has made our program better through her mentality, her performances and her positive example everyday."

LEAH RADOW

Lead, Radow SOCLeah Radow: "One of my favorite memories is playing last spring and being on the field with my teammates.Ā I'm thankful for OU Soccer for their continued support in soccer, academics, and in life. OU Soccer has always been there for me."
Mark Carr: "LeahĀ just gets it. She has never missed a day to improve herself, be a selfless teammate and play her role and always put the team first. Leah is going to achieve great things as she heads out into the world and I know her potential is limitless."

MEGAN REILLY

Lead, Reilly vs. UTMegan Reilly:Ā "I am thankful for my time at OU because of the friendships and memories I have made. One of my best memories being a part of OU soccer was when we beat No. 6 Arkansas on the road in double overtime!"
Mark Carr: "Meg is aĀ model student-athlete that is driven and motivated in every facet of her life. She has relentlessly chased excellence everyday and those qualities will serve her well in the years ahead of her regardless of what she decides to do."

JAZZY RICHARDS

2018-21

Lead, Richards UVUJazzy Richards: "I'm thankful for my time at OU because it's allowed me to meet some of the my favorite people and create memories that will last a lifetime. My best memory would be beating Oklahoma State my freshman year at home."
Mark Carr: "Jazzy is one of the greatest legends that has ever played in this program. Jazzy is one of the best human beings you will ever meet. She will always tell you the truth and if on your team, she will find a way to support you and make sure you succeed. She is a winner, a worker and has single-handedly found ways to win games this year for us. A true legend!"

CAMERON THARP

Lead, SOC Big 12 Play TharpCameron Tharp: "I'm thankful for the friendships and memories I have made over the last four years and how much they have impacted my life for the better.Ā My favorite memory of OU soccer was getting to listen and learn from Jill Ellis on zoom with the team."
Mark Carr: "Cam's evolution in my two years here at OU has been remarkable. From day one, she has always "attacked the day" to be a better version of herself. She has stepped up in big moments when called upon and also supported her team unselfishly. She is a strong, driven and confident young woman who will make a massive difference in whatever she chooses next."Ā 

MAKALA THOMAS

Lead, Thomas SOCMakala Thomas:Ā "I am thankful for my experience at OU because, although it was short, I was immediately brought into the Sooner family and am so grateful for the people I have met on this journey. We have grown so much on and off the field and feel so blessed that I have crossed paths with such amazing players and friends that will be a part of my life no matter how far apart our futures take us."
Mark Carr: "Mak has been a great addition to our program here at OU. She has made us better and has led by example by her work rate and relentlessness. She is adapted well to OU and even though her stay has been short, she will be remembered for always leaving her heart on the field and inspiring us all through her competitiveness."

PAIGE THOMPSON

Lead, Thompson SOCPaige Thompson:Ā "I'm thankful for my time at OU because of the friendships I have made. My experience has taught me that having determination in spite of obstacles is required in life."
Mark Carr: "Paige has been the consummate teammate, who behind the scenes has come to work everyday, got her head down and done everything to support and push her teammates. These student-athletes are critical to any team. She has been selfless and in her own way made OU soccer better."

Mark Carr: "Tovy has been a reliable component of our program as we have sought to re-establish our team here in the last two seasons. She is a hard worker, one of the most dynamic and exciting players I have worked with and has always got fans excited as she takes off with the ball. She has grown in so many ways on and off the field, been a critical role player to our program and her contribution has been so positive."Ā Ā 

LAUREN HAIVALA

Lead, SOC vs. TCULauren Haivala: "I am so thankful for my time here at OU. The friendships, experiences and memoriesĀ are something I will cherish forever. My favorite memory is beating OSU in the 88th minute my junior year!"
Mark Carr: "H epitomizes how a Sooner soccer student-athlete should go to work on a daily basis. She bleeds Crimson and Cream and loves this program. She loves the game so much and is always willing to do whatever it takes to win. Where she is now is a credit to her, her ability to work on a daily basis and take hard coaching."Ā Ā

Mark Carr: "Nikki has been a big character for this program and someone who will go down in history as been one of the top GKs here at OU. Big presence and personality around the locker room that will be remembered here at OU for years to come."

Mark Carr: "Yosty's development and journey in the last few years have been incredible to watch. She has gone about her business quietly but made huge strides. Seeing her grow, take hard coaching and develop into our "flying Ferrari" makes us all very proud!"
