#25 GOES FOR 45

Madi Williams dropped 45 points Sunday against West Virginia to capture the OU single-game scoring record and score the most points in a DI women's basketball game this season.

Williams passed OU's all-time leading scorer and current assistant coach Courtney Paris on the all-time single-game scoring list. Paris' held the previous record of 43 which she set in 2006.

Williams' performance was wildly efficient. The junior shot 17-for-30 (.567) from the floor, 3-for-7 (.429) from deep and 8-for-9 (.889) from the charity stripe. Williams nearly doubled her previous career high of 26 points as she accounted for 62.5% of Oklahoma's
scoring on the contest.

Additionally, Williams' 45 points against WVU were good for the most in a game by a Division I women's basketball player this season, as were her 17 field goals. Williams was one point shy of tying the Division I men's basketball 2020-21 single-game high of 46 points set by D'Moi Hodge of Cleveland State on Dec. 26.

TOT HOTDISH

Freshman Nevaeh Tot is averaging 5.4 assists per game, tying for first among Big 12 players and 14th nationally. She has dished 42 on the season to tie for eighth nationally and second among all NCAA freshmen.

Tot shattered her previous career high of seven assists with 11 against UAPB (Dec. 29). Her 11 dimes against UAPB tied for the most by a Big 12 player in a single game in 2020-21 and the fourth most in a Division I women's basketball game this season.

Tot's 12 point, 11 assist performance against UAPB also marked the first time a Sooner had recorded a double-double with points and assists since Morgan Hook in 2013.

Tot also became the 14th player in program history to have a 10 or more assists in a game and her performance was the 51st game in which a player logged 10 or more dimes.

Should Tot continue to average 6.0 assists or more in OU's 16 remaining games this season, she will certainly earn a place in the top five on OU's freshman assists list (the minimum total assists Tot needs to make the list is 68Ā to tie Shaina Pellington in 2017-18). The freshman assists record is held by all-time Sooner great Stacey Dales, who logged 150 during the 1998-99 season.

FOLLOWING IN THEĀ FOOTSTEPS OF LEGENDS

OU freshmen Nevaeh Tot (12 points, 11 assists) and Skylar Vann (14 points, 10 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles against UAPB (Dec. 29).

Tot and Vann's double-doubles marked the first time two freshmen had done so in a game since Ashley Paris and Courtney Paris against Missouri on March 9, 2006.

Two freshmen have recorded double-doubles in the same game just six times including Tot and Vann's on Dec. 29. The Paris twins achieved the feat five times during the 2005-06 season and Teresa Ray and Joyce Parker did it once in 1977-78.
