NORMAN – University of Oklahoma right-hander Jason Ruffcorn has been recognized as a second-team Preseason All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
Ruffcorn, a senior from Cedar Park, Texas, led the Big 12 and ranked 35th nationally with 11 saves in 2019. He ranked second in the Big 12 with 30 appearances and posted a 2-2 record with a 2.50 ERA in the closer role for the Sooners, pitching 37.0 innings with 22 scoreless outings. His 11 saves last season were fifth-most in a single season at OU.
Ruffcorn was also recognized as a Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball, and was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team.
Oklahoma opens the 2020 season Feb. 14-16 against Virginia in Pensacola, Fla., and opens its home schedule Feb. 18-19 against Texas Southern at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
