NORMAN – University of Oklahoma right-hander Jason Ruffcorn has been recognized as a third-team Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Ruffcorn, a senior from Cedar Park, Texas, led the Big 12 and ranked 35th nationally with 11 saves in 2019. He ranked second in the Big 12 with 30 appearances and posted a 2-2 record with a 2.50 ERA in the closer role for the Sooners, pitching 37.0 innings with 22 scoreless outings. His 11 saves last season were fifth-most in a single season at OU
Ruffcorn was selected in the 18th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds. He transferred to Oklahoma from Texas A&M prior to the 2018-19 academic year.
The Sooners were ranked No. 30 in Collegiate Baseball's preseason poll released this week. OU posted a 33-23 record in 2019 and returns 21 players to the squad for the 2020 season.
