Soccer Collects Big 12 Academic Honors

NORMAN – Twelve players from the Oklahoma soccer team received Academic All-Big 12 honors, including 11 first-team selections, the conference announced Thursday. 

Seniors Emma Ledbetter, Yuuka Kurosaki and Erika Yost, juniors Megan Reilly, Cameron Tharp and Lauren Tovy along with sophomores Caroline Berutti, Jordan Lund, Maya McCutcheon, Megan Nielsen and Jenna Sheely were all named first-team selections. Additionally, redshirt senior Lauren Haivala was named to the second team.

Berutti and Sheely received special recognition for holding 4.0 GPAs. The academic honor is the third for Haivala and Yost, while Ledbetter collected her second. This marks the 17th season that at least five Sooners have been included on the first team.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. 

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
