Sooners Face KSU Friday

October 15, 2020 | Soccer

NORMAN — The Oklahoma soccer team hits the road for a showdown in Manhattan, Kan., with Kansas State Friday evening at 5 p.m. CT. The match will be available to watch on a subscription basis via Big 12 NOW on ESPN+

OU junior Megan Reilly registered two assists against the Wildcats a season ago and looks to help the team bounce back and get in the win column.

"I think coming off a disappointing loss to Iowa State last week, having that mentality to bounce back is key," said Reilly. "We had a good week of practice, the energy was high and I think just executing our game plan and working together will help us get a win."

LOOK BACK

OU is coming off a two-game homestand that saw them battle it out with Texas Tech and Iowa State in Norman. On Oct. 2, the Sooners went back-and-forth with the Red Raiders in a 2-2 draw that saw senior Reagan Glisson and Kurosaki register OU's first goals of the season.

Last week, the Sooners fell to the Cyclones off an ISU executed corner kick in the 65th minute. OU saw a handful of opportunities throughout the match, with three shots from Glisson and a pair of looks from juniors Reilly and Lauren Tovy, sophomore Maya McCutcheon and freshman Cailey England. Senior keeper Nikki Panas registed five saves in the game.

TEAM EFFORT

OU's squad has spread the wealth in terms of shots in 2020. 13 Sooners have taken a shot this season, with nine Sooners registering shots on goal. Glisson leads all Sooners with eight shots and two on goal in the season, with a trio of Sooners (England, McCutcheon and Reilly) all behind her with five shots a piece. Glissen, Reilly, England and transfer junior Bri Amos pace the Sooners with two shots on goal.

Carr's squad has seen contributions from freshmen and veterans alike. Freshman Cailey England has started all three matches for the Sooners. Fellow true freshmen CeCe Cross and Abby Mitchell have also provided sparks off the bench for OU.

Returning senior Kurosaki registered her first goal of the season vs. Texas Tech (10/2) in her first action of 2020. Senior Erika Yost and junior Megan Reilly have also been proven contributors for OU, combining for six shots on the year. Leading the sophomores on the pitch has been McCutcheon with five looks and one on goal.
