NORMAN – The No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team downed Big 12 rival Iowa State, 197.600-195.00 Friday night inside Lloyd Noble Center.
The Sooners improved to 10-0 on the year and extended their home winning streak to 28 consecutive meets.

Junior Anastasia Webb picked up three event titles, winning vault, beam and the all-around. Senior Jade Degouveia won the bars title, while freshmen Ragan Smith won a share of beam.

OU posted its second highest score of the season and sixth-best score overall on vault with a 49.600 in the opening rotation. Webb was the highlight of the rotation as she set a new career high with a 9.975 on her Yurchenko 1.5.

Freshman Brooke Weins set a career high in the leadoff spot with a 9.85 on her Yurchenko full. Sophomore Allie Stern followed with a career high of her own and a 9.925 on her 1.5. Junior Evy Schoepfer tied her career best with a 9.925 on a tucked 1.5, and senior Maggie Nichols anchored with a 9.925.

"Our vault touch was kind of crazy," head coach K.J. Kindler said. "We did absolutely nail vault but, as a coach you're looking for them to come out of that warm-up, ready to go, and kind of on point. I think that we did execute vault, which was just muscle memory. I think they had to do a lot of fighting inside of their heads to erase their touch warm-up, which can leave a lasting impression on you and effect have you compete."

On bars, the Sooners went 49.550, their third best score of the season. Degouveia was near perfection as she earned a career high 9.975 with beautiful handstands and a stuck dismount.

"Jade had an exceptional routine on bars," Kindler said. "Ragan was one hop away from a ten, really. Just like little things here. Olivia, the bar routine was great, bar landing was a little crazy. Vanessa has stepped in and has done an exceptional job."

Nichols anchored with a stuck double layout for a 9.95, while freshman Ragan Smith added a 9.9 in the No. 4 spot. Sophomore Olivia Trautman tallied a 9.875 with a huge double layout to end her routine and freshman Vanessa Deniz earned a 9.850 in just her second time competing the event this season.

"I wouldn't say I'm surprised (about being in the lineup)," Deniz said. "I'm more proud and honored to get this opportunity. Coming to a school like this is a dream come true so getting to contribute to my team and have a spot in the line-up and just get out there and do my best is everything."

OU went 49.325 on beam in the third rotation, highlighted by a pair of 9.95s. Webb was stunning as always as she stuck her dismount and earned a 9.95 in the No. 4 spot. Smith followed with a 9.95 of her own in the No. 5 spot.

Back in the lineup for the first time this season, Trautman started the rotation off with a 9.800. Freshman Jenna Dunn added a 9.825, while sophomore Carly Woodard notched a 9.800 in the No. 3 position.

The Sooners wrapped things up with a 49.125 on floor. Deniz and Degouveia led the way with matching 9.85s. Junior Jordan Draper added a 9.825 in the leadoff spot. Smith and sophomore Emma LaPinta tallied matching 9.8s.

"At the last meet, Vanessa competed three events, stepped in and has really done a phenomenal job," Kindler said. "She wasn't ready to go at the beginning of the year and as the year's gone on she's just gotten better and better. So, I assume that's a trend that's going to continue."

OU is back in action Sunday, Feb. 9, at Texas Women's University. The meet will begin at 2 p.m. CT in Denton, Texas.
