NORMAN – The Sooners will travel to Denton, Texas for their lone road meet in the month of February. OU will face Texas Woman's University on Sunday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. CT inside Kitty Magee Arena.

NOTES AND NUMBERS FOR MEET SEVEN

LOOK BACK AT IT
In its last meet, Oklahoma defeated No. 16 Iowa State, 197.600-195.000, inside Lloyd Noble Center. Junior Anastasia Webb took home three event titles (AA, VT, BB) as she was nearly perfect on her vault earning a 9.975. Webb also added a 9.95 on beam to match her season high. Freshman Ragan Smith set a career high with a 9.95 on beam to share the beam title with Webb. Senior Jade Degouveia added a near perfect 9.975 on bars to earn the title. Sophomore Allie Stern tallied a career high 9.925 on vault, while junior Evy Schoepfer earned a career-high 9.925 on vault as well.

LONE STAR SOONERS
When OU hits the road for Denton, four Sooners will be making a trip home for the weekend. Jordan Draper (Bedford), Erin Hutchison (Plano), Emma LaPinta (Frisco) and Ragan Smith (Lewisville) all hail from the state of Texas. Draper trained at Empire Gymnastics, Hutchison at WOGA, LaPinta at Kurt Thomas and Smith at Texas Dreams.

CLOUD 9.9
The Sooners have posted 64 scores of 9.9 or higher through the first six meets of the season. With 143 routines competed, that means 44.7 percent of the routines scored at least a 9.9. OU has put up double-digit scores of 9.9 or higher four times, including a season best 15 at Alabama on Jan. 17.

DEPTH DISPLAYED
OU has showcased the depth it has on its roster with 14 Sooners appearing in at least one lineup this season. Seniors Maggie Nichols (AA) and Jade Degouveia (VT, UB, BB), juniors Anastasia Webb (AA), Carly Woodard (BB), Jordan Draper (UB, FX) and Evy Schoepfer (VT), sophomore Allie Stern (VT, FX) and freshmen Jenna Dunn (BB) and Ragan Smith (AA) have competed in every meet this season. Junior Karrie Thomas (UB, BB), sophomores Emma LaPinta (FX) and Olivia Trautman (UB, BB) and freshmen Vanessa Deniz (UB, BB, FX) and Brooke Weins (VT) have all competed in at least two meets this season.

The underclassmen are playing a major role once again as the eight sophomores and freshmen have combined for 52 of 143 routines (36.3 percent). Degouveia, Nichols, Smith and Webb have contributed 83 routines (58 percent) as all four have competed at least three routines in every meet with Webb being an all-arounder in all six.

TO 198 AND BEYOND
For the third year in a row, the Sooners became the first team in the country to reach a score of 198 or better with a 198.250 on Jan. 17 at Alabama. OU reached 198 once again with a 198.250 on Jan. 20 against Arkansas.

In each of last two seasons, the Sooners have posted at least eight marks of 198 or higher. Since 2016 OU has totaled 28 scores of 198 or better and has 35 such scores in program history. Of those 35, only 12 have been earned at home with the other 23 all coming at road or neutral sites. Nine of those scores have come in regional or national competition, including the 198.475 mark at the 2019 NCAA Athens Regional which is the top road score in NCAA history.

In 2018, OU set the NCAA record with 10 scores of 198 or better in a single season. OU has more scores of 198 in the last five years than any other program has in their entire history.

STILL ON TOP
For five straight weeks, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team has remained the top team in the nation. OU posted a 197.600 against No. 16 Iowa State on Friday, Jan. 31, to improve to 10-0 on the year. The Sooners are averaging a 197.763 through six meets to maintain their hold on the No. 1 ranking. Florida remained in second (197.594), followed by Utah in third (196.944), Denver in fourth (196.940) and UCLA in fifth (196.925). Oklahoma is the top vault (49.463) and bars (49.538) team in the nation. The Sooners rank third on beam (49.371) and floor (49.392).

NATIONAL RANKINGS
Seven Sooners earned 13 individual national rankings. Senior Maggie Nichols is No. 1 in the all-around (39.775) and on vault (9.954). She is No. 3 on floor (9.95) and fourth on bars (9.937). Junior Anastasia Webb ranks No. 12 in the all-around (39.408), fourth on vault (9.904) and 13th on beam (9.887). Senior Jade Degouveia is ranked on a pair of events, coming in at No. 6 on bars (9.921) and No. 21 on vault (9.862). Sophomore Olivia Trautman is No. 17 on bars (9.881) and sophomore Allie Stern is No. 16 on vault (9.871). Freshman Ragan Smith is ranked 20th in the all-around with a 39.275 average. Freshman Vanessa Deniz comes in at No. 25 on bars (9.863).

SMITH HONORED BY BIG 12
Freshman Ragan Smith was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 3. Smith has been named the newcomer of the week four times in 2020. The Lewisville, Texas, native earned the recognition three weeks in a row to start the season. A Sooner has won the honor each week as freshman Vanessa Deniz was named newcomer of the week on Jan. 27. The freshman notched two scores of 9.9 or better in her three events Friday night to help lead OU to victory over Iowa State. Smith took home the beam title with a 9.95 as she set a career and season high on the event. On bars, she added a 9.9 and has now scored a 9.9 or better in five of six meets this season. Smith added a 9.800 on floor to conclude her night.

CLUB 197
The Sooners have posted a 197.000 or higher in 66 of their last 67 meets. Currently, the Sooners' streak is at 32 meets and 17 of those have featured a score of at least 198.000.
In 2019, OU was one of just two teams who posted a 197 or better in every single meet (UCLA). This season, 14 teams have posted a score of 197 or better through the first five weeks. In 2019, only nine teams had done so through week five.

ROAD WARRIORS
The Sooners had a tough start to the 2020 season with four of their first five meets coming on the road. OU opened the year at the Collegiate Challenge in Anaheim, Calif., where they picked up wins over UCLA, Cal and Stanford on Jan. 4.
The Sooners then headed to Tempe, Ariz., on Jan. 11 for a meet against Arizona State which also saw a Sooner victory. The three-meet road swing ended with a win in Tuscaloosa, Ala., over No. 9 Alabama. Wrapping up their road slate was a quad-meet win at the Metroplex Challenge on Jan. 25. The Sooners will only hit the road twice more in the regular season with trips to Denton, Texas and Minneapolis, Minn.

A LEAGUE OF HER OWN
Head coach K.J. Kindler is in a league of her own in 2020. With the retirement of long-time UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field at the end of the 2019 season, Kindler is now the only active head coach to win a national championship. Kindler is still the only coach in NCAA history to take two different programs to the NCAA Finals (Iowa State, 2006; Oklahoma, nine times).
