DENTON, Texas – The No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team showcased its depth in a 197.900-195.225 victory over Texas Woman's University Sunday afternoon inside Kitty Magee Arena in Denton, Texas.

Twelve Sooners competed on at least one event in the meet, with four competing at on least three events. OU was able to showcase six of its eight underclassmen, including the entire sophomore class. The underclassmen contributed to 12 of the 24 routines on the night.

"We're developing our depth right now," Kindler said. "We have to give some of these guys rest. We have a lot of all-arounders who just need time to chill every once in a while. Because our depth is being developed better, we have the ability to change our lineups and give other people opportunities. They're really seizing the moment which is what I love to see the most. When Evy (Schoepfer) has a chance to do a beam routine and she knocks it out of the park, they're getting really great experience that will be valuable down the road."

Competing in their seventh meet of the season and fifth on the road, the Sooners improved to 11-0 as they posted their third-highest score of the season.

"I love starting on the road," Kindler said. "I like getting them out of their comfort zone right out of the gate and throwing them into those kinds of environments. I think they learn the most about themselves in those environments. To give them that kind of experience makes them sharper down the road."

Four Sooners claimed every event title as senior Jade Degouveia earned vault with a 9.975, senior Maggie Nichols took home bars with a 9.975, freshman Ragan Smith claimed beam with a 9.975 and junior Anastasia Webb clinched floor with a 9.925 and the all-around with a 49.475.

OU started strong on bars, counting four scores of 9.9 or better for a 49.525 in the opening rotation. The highlight of the rotation was a near-perfect 9.975 from Nichols. Webb led things off with a stuck dismount for a 9.90, followed by a 9.850 from sophomore Olivia Trautman. Freshman Vanessa Deniz added 9.850 in the No. 3 spot as she stuck her double tuck dismount.

Degouveia started a trend of three straight scores of 9.9 or higher with a 9.9 of her own. Smith performed an incredible routine in the No. 5 spot for a 9.9, before Nichols' 9.975.
The Sooners kept things going strong on vault with a 49.450 and different lineup than usual. Degouveia was nearly perfect in the No. 3 spot as she earned a career-high 9.975. Anchoring with a tucked 1.5 was junior Evy Schoepfer, who posted a huge 9.95 for a career high.

In her first time vaulting in 2020, Trautman eared a 9.875 in the No. 5 spot. Sophomore Allie Stern added a 9.875 of her own in the No. 2 position. A slight uncharacteristic mistake from Webb was the final counted score in the rotation as she went 9.775 in the No. 4 spot.

With a sizable lead heading to floor, OU added a 49.350 on the apparatus. The rotation started with matching 9.875s from Smith and sophomore Jordan Draper. In the No. 3 spot, Deniz was gorgeous as she earned a 9.850. Degouveia continued her strong day with a 9.825 in the No. 5 spot. Webb anchored with a beautiful routine for a team-high 9.925.

In the final rotation, the Sooners used their best beam performance of the season to earn a 49.575. Trautman was exceptional in the leadoff position, earning a season-high 9.9 as she nailed her dismount for the stuck landing. Freshman Jenna Dunn had her best routine of the season, earning herself a career-high 9.875.

Junior beam specialist Carly Woodard was phenomenal in the No. 3 spot as she nailed her series and stuck her dismount to earn a career-high 9.95 on the event. Schoepfer matched her career high with a beautiful performance and another stuck dismount for a 9.875.

Smith was incredible in the No. 5 spot as she oozed elegance and poise to earn a career-high and near-perfect 9.975. The freshman finished her all-around night with a career-high 39.450. Webb anchored with a beautiful routine for a 9.875 to close the meet for the Sooners.

"Balance beam was one of our best performances of the year," Kindler said. "Even with Maggie out, the team was very aggressive and there were almost no wobbles through the rotation. We could have been a little more detailed-oriented on our dismount landings, but all in all, really happy with how they ended on balance beam."

The Sooners will be back inside the friendly confines of Lloyd Noble Center on Friday at 6:45 p.m. CT to take on Big 12 rival West Virginia and TWU.
