NORMAN — Coming off the holiday break, the No. 20/22/22 (Flo/InterMat/Track) Oklahoma wrestling team is back in action this weekend at the 57th annual Midlands Championships. The two-day tournament will be held Sunday and Monday, Dec. 29-30, at Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

The Sooners send a young lineup to compete against a loaded field that includes wrestlers from 10 FloWrestling top-25 squads: No. 1 Iowa, No. 4 Wisconsin, No. 8 Northern Iowa, No. 9 Northwestern, No. 10 Princeton, No. 12 Purdue, No. 17 North Carolina, No. 20 Oklahoma, No. 23 Virginia and No. 25 Central Michigan

Last Time Out

Oklahoma made its 2019-20 home dual debut on Dec. 15, falling to No. 13/11/12 Oklahoma State, 23-9. Dom Demas (141), Justin Thomas (157) and Anthony Mantanona (174) each picked up victories in the dual for the Sooners.

Sooners in the Rankings

Six Sooners are currently ranked by at least one ranking service: No. 3/4/4 (Flo/InterMat/Track) Dom Demas, No. 16/20/22 Anthony Madrigal, No. 9/9/9 Jake Woodley, No. 18/17/16 Justin Thomas, No. 11/NR/19 Anthony Mantanona and No. NR/NR/31 Christian Moody.

Tournament Info

Competition is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. CT on Sunday and noon on Monday. Brackets and results will be available on FloArena. Additionally, FloWrestling will live stream the event for a fee.

Up Next

Following the Midlands Championships, The Sooners will enter dual competition for the remainder of the season. OU will travel to Athens, Ohio, for a dual with Ohio University on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. CT, before returning home to square off with West Virginia at McCasland Field House on Sunday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m. CT.
