November 09, 2019 | Wrestling

NORMAN – The No. 20/20/21/20 (NWCA/Flo/InterMat/Trackwrestling) Oklahoma wrestling team heads to Troy, N.Y., for the Journeymen Collegiate Classic Sunday.

The tournament field features five FloWrestling top-25 teams: No. 4 Arizona State, No. 8 Nebraska, No. 13 Lehigh, No. 19 Old Dominion and the Sooners.

OU will send 15 wrestlers to the mat. In their last competition, five Sooners finished in the top five in their respective weight classes at the Michigan State Open, with redshirt sophomore Dom Demas, sophomore Anthony Madrigal and redshirt sophomore Jake Woodley all finishing in second place.

Madrigal topped a pair of top-17 opponents en route to the finals match before a defeat by No. 4 Micky Phillipi (Pitt). Demas and Woodley took their only losses of the tournament to then-No. 3 Luke Pletcher (Ohio State) and No. 1 Kollin Moore (Ohio State), respectively.

The Sooners make an appearance at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic for the second consecutive season. In 2018, Demas claimed the title at 141, earning the Hammer Award as the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler. OU took home fifth place as a team.

Six members of the OU roster enter the weekend ranked by FloWrestling, InterMat and Trackwrestling: No. 2/2/2 Demas, No. 12/17/13 Madrigal, No. 17/17/12 Woodley, No. 17/11/15 Justin Thomas, No. NR/NR/24 Christian Moody and No. NR/NR/28 Anthony Mantanona

Competition is set to begin at 8 a.m. CT.

Matches will be streamed live via FloWrestling for a fee.
