On Saturday, Oklahoma will take on Boston University at 2:30 p.m. CT and New Mexico State a second time at 7:30 p.m. CT.

The Sooners began their title defense on Feb. 9-11, opening the 2018 slate with a dominant 5-0 showing at the GCU Kickoff Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz. OU outscored its opponents 35-4, opening the event with wins over Weber State (6-3) and Grand Canyon (8-1). The Sooners did not allow another run that weekend, defeating Montana 4-0 and Grand Canyon 10-0 in five innings on Saturday before taking down Pacific 7-0 on Sunday.
OU's 5-0 start to the season marks the first time the Sooners have won their first five games since 2015, when Oklahoma opened the year 9-0.
Junior Sydney Romero and senior Nicole Pendley led the Sooners at the plate, going 8-for-15 (.533) and 6-for-12 (.500), respectively, on the weekend. Both upperclassmen recorded five RBI and notched a home run and a double, and Pendley scored five runs while Romero totaled four. Pendley also led the team witth four walks, a .625 on-base percentage and a .833 slugging percentage.
Freshman Jocelyn Alo impressed in her collegiate debut, finishing open weekend 7-for-17 (.412) with a slugging average of .824. She drilled the first two home runs of her career and drove in four runs total.
Five of OU's pitchers made appearances at the GCU Kickoff Tournament, combining for a 0.64 ERA on the weekend. Senior Paige Parker earned three wins in the circle, allowing no runs and five hits and throwing 13 strikeouts over 12.1 innings. Against Montana, sophomore Mariah Lopez tossed a career-high 11 strikeouts in 6.0 innings.
Oklahoma will meet Ball State for just the second time in program history this weekend, with the first meeting coming in 1994 in Tampa, Fla., where OU claimed a 1-0 win.
OU has won 20 of its 23 meetings all-time with New Mexico State, including the last seven. The two teams met twice at the 2016 Troy Cox Classic as OU run ruled the Aggies twice, 11-1 and 8-0.
The Sooners' game with Boston on Saturday will mark the fourth all-time meeting between two programs. Although Boston won the first contest, Oklahoma has won the other three. Most recently, OU took down the Terriers 14-4 in 2015 in five innings.
The Sooners travel to Palm Springs, Calif., for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Feb. 22-24 (Thursday-Saturday). On Thursday night, OU will face No. 18/16 Arizona State before an exhibition game with Team Japan. OU will take on BYU on Friday and both North Carolina and No. 12/11 Arizona on Saturday.
