NORMAN – Oklahoma wrestling heads to Stillwater, Okla., Sunday for a Bedlam contest with No. 4 Oklahoma State (3-0) at 12:30 p.m. CT. The contest will be OU's first dual of the season.
Last Time Out
The Sooners (0-0) closed out their tournament slate at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. As a team, OU finished the event with 39 team points and tallied 20 victories on the tournament, with five of those coming as pins.
Demas led the charge for OU, finishing fourth at 141 pounds.
Sooners in the Rankings
Four Sooners appeared in Trackwrestling's most recent release. At 141 pounds Dom Demas is No. 9 in his weight class. Christian Moody is No. 24 at 125, while Jake Woodley is No. 23 at 197 and Jake Boyd checks in at No. 23 in the 285 division.
Additionally, Demas represents the Sooners in the InterMat rankings at No. 16; clocks in at No. 13 in FloWrestling's release; and No. 9 in the NCAA rankings.
Newcomers Shine
The Sooners' lineup has features just four returners (Moody, Jeffries, Justin Thomas and Jeremy Thomas). Madrigal has made an impact as a true freshman, while Demas, Mantanona, Woodley, Boyd utilized a redshirt last season but have quickly made their presence felt.
OU also added graduate transfer Kayne MacCallum, who completed his undergraduate degree at Eastern Michigan, where he was a 2018 NCAA qualifier and the 2018 MAC champion at 184 pounds.
Demas Dominating
Newcomer Dom Demas has wasted no time in making an impact for the Sooners. At 141 pounds, Demas finished in the top five in each of OU's three tournaments: fourth at the Michigan State Open; first at the Journeyman MyHouse Collegiate Classic; and fourth at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite. The Columbus, Ohio, native leads the team in wins with 14, and pins with four.
