NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma baseball and softball teams hosted a joint Halloween Game fundraiser at Marita Hynes Field to benefit The Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center on Tuesday night.

Once again this year, the two Sooner programs launched a fundraising campaign with the Vs. Cancer Foundation to support The Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center. The fundraiser culminated with the scrimmage, which the baseball team won 3-2 in five innings.

Through the conclusion of the event, the teams combined to raise over $15,000 in donations. More than $12,500 was raised through online donations and another $2,350 was donated by the Landers Auto Group through the post-game home run derby. Additional donations can be made online through the baseball and softball Vs. Cancer pages.

At $50 per home run, 10 Sooners, five from each team, combined to hit 47 homers. Baseball's Tyler Hardman, dressed as the man from “Cast Away,” led all players with nine blasts. Baseball's Cade Cavalli hit seven, baseball alumnus Cam Seitzer (2009-11) recorded six, and baseball's Brylie Ware and softball's Jocelyn Alo each added five.

The softball team took an early lead in the scrimmage thanks to a pair of hits from minions Jocelyn Alo and Fale Aviu before a sacrifice fly from Darth Vader (Shannon Saile) brought Alo home.

Baseball retook the lead after a three-run second inning. The carton of milk, Blake Brewster, drove a bouncing grounder to the wall in right center to drive home two runs, and later crossed the plate to give the baseball team the deciding third run of the inning.

The next few innings turned into a pitchers' duel between softball's Caleigh Clifton, dressed as a Rockford Peach from “A League of Their Own,” and baseball's Levi Prater, dressed as Morty from “Rick and Morty.”

The softball team got within one in the bottom of the fifth as Monster Inc.'s Sully (Raegan Rogers) raced home, but the baseball team held on to clinch the game.
