Duffield Named Outstanding Wrestler at Nationals

NORMAN – Incoming Oklahoma wrestling freshman Dalton Duffield was named Outstanding Wrestler of the Junior Greco-Roman Nationals after winning the 120-pound title this week. The championships, which continue through July 23, are being held inside the Fargodome in Fargo, N.C.

The Moore, Okla., native dominated his championship bout with a 14-2 technical fall win. Duffield posted four pins and two technical falls en route to his second straight junior national championship.

Duffield is part of the nine-member recruiting class that will look to make an impact for the Sooners in the 2016-17 season. The group, made up of Duffield, Justin Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, Vincent Spalitto, Dawaylon Barnes, Zachary Atencio, Jose Taylor, Seth Fritts and John Shrader, was ranked the No. 8 recruiting class by WIN Magazine.
