Sooners Keep No. 7 Spot in NWCA Poll

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma wrestling team kept the No. 7 spot in this week's USAToday/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll. Additionally, four Sooners are ranked in this week's Intermat individual polls.

Six of OU's 2015-16 opponents are currently in the NWCA top-25 and seven were ranked at the time of competition. The Sooners hold a 4-3 record against ranked teams this season. Penn State tops the leaderboard with all 12 first-place votes and Iowa holds the No. 2 spot. No. 3 N.C. State, No. 4 Oklahoma State and No. 5 Missouri round out the top five.

Sophomore Ryan Millhof moved into the top 10 of the 125-pound rankings for the first time this season, holding the No. 10 spot. The Suwanee, Ga., native has registered eight wins over ranked opponents this season, four of which came in his last five matches.

At 133 pounds, redshirt senior Cody Brewer boasts the No. 4 spot. Brewer has tallied 11 bonus-point victories this season with three coming over ranked opponents, including a fall over then-No. 19 Anthony Giraldo of Rutgers, a technical fall over then-No. 6 Ross Bruno of Michigan and a major decision over then-No. 9 Earl Hall of Iowa State.

Redshirt junior Clark Glass holds a 15-8 record this season and is ranked No. 12 at 165 pounds. Glass claims two wins over ranked opponents with a 6-4 decision over then-No. 9 Anthony Perotti of Rutgers and then-No. 17 Garrett Sutton of Michigan.

Ross Larson (14-8) takes the No. 16 spot at heavyweight. The redshirt junior's last two wins have come by fall in 2:54 over Iowa State's Quean Smith and in 1:35 over James Romero of Missouri. Larson boasts two wins over ranked opponents this season.

The Sooners (9-3 overall, 4-1 Big 12) return to the mat this Friday, Feb. 5, for the second Bedlam dual of the season, slated for a 7 p.m. start inside Gallgher-Iba Arena in Stillwater. OU has one more road contest before returning home on Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. for its final regular-season matchup against conference opponent South Dakota State.
