NORMAN – The No. 18 Oklahoma wrestling team travels to Troy, N.Y., this Sunday, Nov. 13, to begin its season at the Journeymen/ASICS Collegiate Classic. The 16-team event will be held at the Hudson Valley Community College.
This season, the event will be an individual, round robin format. Eight of the 16 participating teams are ranked in the most recent NWCA polls. The No. 18 Sooners will join No. 4 Ohio State, No. 9 NC State, No. 12 Lehigh, No. 16 Minnesota, No. 19 Wisconsin, No. 20 Arizona State and No. 25 North Carolina.
Three of the 14 Sooners competing in the event are ranked in the most recent InterMat individual polls in No. 11 Davion Jeffries (149 pounds), No. 12 Clark Glass and No. 7 Ross Larson.
Freshman Dalton Duffield (125 pounds), redshirt freshmen Christian Moody (125 pounds) and Hayden Hansen (174 pounds), redshirt sophomores Jared Schieber (165 pounds) and Rex Shotts (285 pounds) and juniors Mike Longo (141 pounds) and DaWaylon Barnes (157 pounds) will be making their first appearance in the OU lineup at the tournament.
