NORTHRIDGE, Calif. The Oklahoma women's soccer team used a late goal from freshman Kyle Escobedo to secure a 1-0 victory at Cal St. Northridge on Sunday afternoon at Matador Soccer Field.

The match was scoreless for almost its entirety before Escobedo recorded the first score of her career in the 89th minute. Off a through ball up the middle from senior forward Liz Keester, the Phoenix, Ariz., native was able to beat CSUN goalkeeper Jovani McCaskill off her line and send the shot to the left post. The assist was Keester's fifth the season.

Redshirt senior Kassidie Stade made history in the match as she tied both the OU single-season and career total for shutouts with seven and 18, respectively. Stade also recorded seven shutouts in 2015, matching Jennifer Nichols (2005 and 2006) in the school record book. She is now tied with Catherine Wade (2001-04) for the career mark. Stade finished Sunday's match with a pair of saves.

"Incredibly proud! It took a complete group effort today, and we got the job done against an in-form Northridge team that had only given up seven goals this season and kept 13 clean sheets," fifth-year OU head coach Matt Potter said. "We defended well when needed and showed the character to find an opening, and it was a great finish. It was another good weekend and we are headed home for a well-deserved rest!"

The Sooners (12-4-2) held the Matadors (9-3-5) without a shot in the first half and finished the match with a 9-5 advantage, including a 6-2 clip in shots on goal. Keester and junior midfielder Tori Bowman both tallied two shots in the contest.

Escobedo's score represented the first goal surrendered by the Matadors over the last 450:03 of play, dating back to Oct. 2. It was also just the second allowed by CSUN at home this season, ending a string of shutout soccer that reached over 809 minutes.

OU next plays Friday when it closes its regular season slate at Texas Tech. The Big 12 match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. CT in Lubbock, Texas, and will stream live through TexasTech.tv (subscription required). This season, the Sooners are celebrating 20 years of their program, which began in 1996.
