Courtney Paris Leads Tulsa Shock To WNBA Playoffs

September 15, 2015 | Women's Basketball

NORMAN – The 2015 WNBA Playoffs begin Thursday with former Oklahoma women's basketball star Courtney Paris looking to guide the Tulsa Shock to a league title.

Paris and the Shock finished the year with 18-16 record to grab the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference bracket. Tulsa will face the Phoenix Mercury in the semifinal round at 9 p.m. CT on ESPN2 to begin the postseason.

The first-ever four-time AP and USBWA All-American in program history, Paris led the WNBA with 9.3 rebounds per game while finishing her fifth season in the league averaging 5.4 points per game. She also started all 34 games for the Shock at center in 2015.

Paris is currently in her second season with the Shock and won the WNBA Peak Performance Award for Rebounding last year.

Tulsa will host Phoenix in game two of the best-of-three series at the BOK Center Saturday at 8 p.m. CT on NBATV. The if-necessary game will take place in Phoenix on Monday. The Mercury won the season series between both teams, 3-2.
