No. 21/24 Oklahoma heads to the 2015 Junkanoo Jam and opens play against Utah on Thursday at 3:15 p.m. CT in Freeport, Bahamas. The Sooners are one of 10 teams in the tournament and will compete in the Reef Division. OU is 1-1 all-time at the Junkanoo Jam and previously played in the event during the 2004-05 season. The Sooners have won back-to-back games after defeating Bradley, 79-46, on Sunday in Peoria, Ill. Utah is 3-0 this season under first-year head coach Lynne Roberts.
Thursday's contest will air on the Sooner Radio Network with Brian Brinkley calling the action. The game will be streamed on JunkanooJam.com.
• Oklahoma enters Thursday's matchup shooting 54.8 percent (23 of 42) from 3-point range in its last two games. Maddie Manning ranks third in the Big 12 with a .667 shooting percentage from behind the arc, while Peyton Little leads OU with 12 3-pointers.
• Oklahoma's Peyton Little ranks fifth in the Big 12 in 3-pointers made per game (3.0), 11th in free throw percentage (.800) and scoring (16.0 ppg) as well as 12th in steals (6). The redshirt junior has scored in double figures 13 times in her last 19 games dating back to last season.
• Redshirt senior forward Kaylon Williams is OU's second leading scorer (12.5 ppg) and leads the squad in rebounds per game (7.5). Williams, who picked up her first double-double of the season against North Texas (11 points/12 rebounds), now has nine career double-doubles - the most of any active player on OU's roster. She has scored in double figures 11 times in the last 12 games for the Sooners dating back to the 2014-15 season. Thursday's game marks her 100th game as a Sooner.
Gabbi Ortiz scored a season-high 14 points and dished six assists in OU's road win at Bradley.
• Through four games, OU is holding opponents to an average of 50.5 points per game. Foes are shooting just 34.0 percent from the field and just 29.2 percent from 3-point range.
• The Sooners have held its last two opponents to under 50 points in back-to-back games (BYU 47; Bradley 46) for the first time since OU surrendered just 35 points to Samford and 38 to Texas Tech during the 2013-14 season. OU also finished with a season-high seven blocks against Bradley as sophomore center Vionise Pierre-Louis recorded a career-best four rejections.
• Oklahoma made 12 3-pointers and forced 19 Bradley turnovers as the Sooners rolled to a 79-46 win over Bradley on Sunday at Renaissance Coliseum. Gabbi Ortiz and Kaylon Williams both scored 14 points in the win while Gileysa Penzo poured in 11 points - all in the fourth quarter for the Sooners.
• Williams has now scored in doubles figures in 11 of the last 12 games for the Sooners dating back to last season. She finished 6 for 6 against Bradley and tied for the team-high with seven rebounds. Vionise Pierre-Louis also finished with seven boards and set a career-high with four blocks.
• The Sooners held Bradley to just 18.5 percent shooting from the field in the second half holding the Braves to a season-low 46 points. OU nearly outscored Bradley for the game in the second half with 45 points.
• Pac 12 member Utah enters Thursday's game with a 3-0 record following its 74-62 win over George Mason on Friday. The Utes rallied from a 34-29 halftime deficit, outscoring George Mason 45-28 in the game's final 20 minutes. The Utes have been tremendous on defense, holding opponents to just a .305 shooting percentage and out-rebounding foes by a +7.7 margin. Utah also ranks 10th in the nation with 7.0 blocked shots per game.
• Redshirt sophomore forward Emily Potter leads the Utes averaging a double-double per game (20.0 ppg, 13 rpg) and is fifth in the country with 5.0 blocked shots per game. She finished with a game-high 25 points and 18 rebounds to earn her third double-double of the year against George Mason.
• Sophomore wing Tanaeya Boclair, redshirt sophomore wing Malia Nawahine and redshirt junior wing Paige Crozon are also averaging double figures in scoring through the first three games for Utah. Boclair has scored 10.7 points per game and chipped in 5.7 rebound per contest, while Nawahine has averaged 10.3. Crozon leads the Utes with a .470 3-point shooting percentage and has scored 10.0 points per game.
• Junior guard Derica Wyatt scored 16 points versus Winthrop, the second-most points by the junior in her career at OU. Wyatt's career-high came against UT-Arlington in 2013, finishing with 23 points and seven 3-pointers off the bench. The Brentwood, Tenn., native played a career-high 28 minutes against North Texas on Monday night.
• Redshirt junior Maddie Manning played a career-high 28 minutes against North Texas Monday. Manning made her first start since the 2012 season (at Hawai'i), starting OU's home opener against Winthrop on Nov. 13. The Ankeny, Iowa, native finished with a career-high four steals in the season-opening win over Winthrop.
• OU is 16-7 under head coach Sherri Coale in games that are played outside the contigous United States. The 2015 Junkanoo Jam marks the fifth time the Sooners have played a tournament outside the U.S. under Coale.
• The Sooners return the majority of their production in every statistical category for 2015-16. That includes 81 percent of the team's points and rebounds, along with 85 percent of its assists, 81 percent of its blocks and 78 percent of its steals. OU also brings back 80 percent of its made 3-point field goals and its free throw production. 11 letterwinners return from last season's squad that combined to play 5,377 minutes a year ago.
• Redshirt freshman guard Gileysa Penzo scored 11 points - all in the fourth quarter. Her 11 points are the second most in one quarter by a Sooner this season ( Maddie Manning - 13 vs. BYU; Nov. 19, 2015).
• Sophomore center Vionise Pierre-Louis tied her career-high with four blocks. OU set a season-high with seven blocks, its most in a single game since's last year's 104-55 win over Bradley in Norman.
• Sophomore center McKenna Treece made her season debut in the second quarter against Bradley. Treece missed the first three games due to thumb surgery and played three minutes Sunday.
• Junior guard T'ona Edwards finished with a season-high eight points and six assists versus Bradley. The junior also finished with 10 attempts from the field, a career-high.
• In their three wins this season, the Sooners have held both opponents to under 50 points (Winthrop - 48; BYU 47, Bradley 46).
• Oklahoma began the year ranked No. 17 in the AP and No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches top 25 preseason polls. OU has appeared in the top 25 of both preseason polls to begin the year 15 times in the last 16 seasons.
The Sooners conclude the 2015 Junkanoo Jam on Saturday and face Boston College at 7 p.m. CT. The contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
