NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team registered its second-straight sweep with a 3-0 victory over TCU at McCasland Field House on Saturday afternoon. The win jumped the Sooners to 10-15 overall and 4-9 in the Big 12, while the Horned Frogs fell to 18-9 and 8-7.

Senior outside hitter Kierra Holst (Coppell, Texas) continued to dominate on the OU attack with 17 kills on a .367 hitting percentage. She has reached double figures in kills in eight out of 13 conference matches and led the Sooners in kills in four of the last five matches. Defensively, Holst added five digs.

“The bottom line is everyone is playing at ease and playing for each other,” stated head coach Santiago Restrepo of his team's play down the stretch. “Everyone is complimenting each other and focusing on the next play. Madison [Ward] and Kierra are doing that and staying engaged.”

Oklahoma won the match, its sixth sweep of the season, by scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 26-24. In set one, the Sooners led 17-13 before an 8-1 run for TCU put them down 21-18. Following an OU timeout, the Sooners went on a 4-0 run to go in front and eventually win the set.

The second set saw the Horned Frogs leading 14-8 near the midway point of the set, following a 6-1 TCU run. Oklahoma answered with a 7-2 run, which extended to 11-4 and gave the Sooners the lead at 19-18. During that stretch, OU went without a setter as junior outside hitter Kimmy Gardiner (Grapevine, Texas) managed the offense to a 4-1 run.

“We know that she has very good hands,” commented Restrepo on Gardiner's ability to set. “We just expect her to put the ball nice and high to the outside of right side. Kimmy is a workhorse and a captain of our team. She works extremely hard on passing, defense, serving and every aspect of the game.”

For the match, Gardiner totaled 11 kills on a season-high .600 attack rate and 12 digs. It was her team-leading 10th double-double of the season to go with four assists. Freshman setter Audrey Alford (Norman, Okla.) dished out 39 assists.

Redshirt-junior outside hitter Madison Ward (Lawton, Okla.) was the third Sooner to reach double figures with 10 kills. She added eight digs, while sophomore libero Rachel Manriquez (Edmond, Okla.) notched a match-high 16.

TCU's Regan McGuire tallied a team-high 10 kills on a .364 attack rate. Alexia Heist collected 23 assists and Ashley Smith picked up 10 digs.

Oklahoma returns to action Tuesday, November 24 at 7:00 pm against West Virginia. Admission is free.
