Doyle recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 42 assists and 10 digs. She added two kills on a season-high seven attempts along with a block assist.

AMES, Iowa – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team fell at Iowa State, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Sooners' record dropped to 8-13 overall and 2-7 in the Big 12. The Cyclones improved to 14-7 and 7-3.

The match came down to the ability of either side to close out a set. Iowa State closed out the first set on a 6-2 run to take it 25-22 before Oklahoma came from as many as five down to win the second, 25-23. The Sooners tied the match at a set apiece heading into the break on an ace from sophomore libero Rachel Manriquez (Edmond, Okla.), who spent her freshman season with the Cyclones.

Iowa State ran away with the third set, 25-15, by using a 10-3 run to create the necessary separation. After trailing 15-9 midway through the fourth, Oklahoma fought back to make a push for a fifth set. A 7-1 run, including three kills from senior outside hitter Kierra Holst (Coppell, Texas) and two from redshirt-junior outside hitter Madison Ward (Lawton, Okla.) tied the fourth at 16-16. The Sooners took their first lead of the set at 21-20 before the Cyclones finished the match on a 5-2 run to win the day.

Alexis Conaway totaled 17 kills and hit .593, for an ISU offense that outhit OU .252-.190, to go with a match-high six blocks. Morgan Kuhrt added 13 kills on a .323 attack rate.

Holst knocked down a team-leading 13 kills for Oklahoma, while hitting .303 with eight digs. Sophomore middle blocker Marion Hazelwood (Beach City, Texas) hit a team-high .400 with 11 kills and just one error. Defensively, she added a team-best five blocks.

Ward managed nine kills, while hitting just .083 for the match. She made a major impact on the defensive side of the ball with 23 digs; the second most of her career.

Manriquez totaled a season-high 19 digs, while senior setter Julia Doyle (Plymouth, Minn.) collected 42 assists.

For the Cyclones, Monique Harris dished out 54 assists and Caitlin Nolan picked up 27 digs.

The Sooners return to action next Saturday at home against Kansas. Admission is free for the 12:00 pm match-up between OU and KU.
