Behind goals from true freshmen Tori Bowman and Madeline Brem, the Sooners knocked off No. 3 seed and 18th-ranked Kansas in the first round of the Big 12 Soccer Championship.

SOONER NOTEBOOK: NOTES FOR WEEK 12

1. ON TO THE SEMIS
After a win against No. 3 seed Kansas on Wednesday night, the Sooners have advanced to semifinal play for the first time since 2010. OU will face the No. 7 seed Baylor Lady Bears on Friday night for a chance to play in the conference championship match. Oklahoma has never met Baylor before in Big 12 Championship play; the two teams last met on Oct. 19, with Baylor taking a 2-1 win.

2. BACK ON TRACK
The Sooners are getting back to their early-season form in tournament play after back-to-back victories over Kansas. Oklahoma allowed only one goal and eight total shots on goal in 26 shot attempts over both matches. OU's shot total on Wednesday vs. Kansas (13 shots, six shots on goal) was its best offensive effort since Oct. 12 against TCU. Oklahoma is now 5-2-0 this season against top-25 ranked opponents, notching wins over foes then-ranked No. 6, No. 10 (twice), No. 14 and No. 18.

3. TOURNEY TIME
After narrowly missing postseason qualification last season, the Sooners are back in the action this weekend with a shot at the program's first-ever Big 12 title. OU's currently conference tournament run is its ninth tournament appearance all-time and second under head coach Matt Potter. Each and every win Oklahoma logs in conference championship play will serve to bolster its NCAA résumé prior to the announcement of the field of 64 next Monday. OU owns two NCAA tournament appearances all-time (2003 and 2010).

4. AWARD ROUND-UP
Oklahoma took home several weekly and postseason honors this week, with All-Big 12 Newcomer Team picks Laura Rayfield (D) and Lizzie Luallin (MF) leading the way. Kaitlyn Fahrner (Defensive) and Rasha Roberts (Newcomer) also captured Big 12 weekly awards, bringing OU to a program-best eight total awards this season. The Sooners' two all-conference newcomer awards give OU at least one All-Newcomer team selection every year under head coach Matt Potter, while its eight academic all-conference awards mark give Oklahoma ten straight years of at least five academic all-conference selections.
