Murray Makes NFL History

DeMarco Murray's run at the history books culminated Sunday when he became the first player in NFL history to rush for 100 or more yards in the first seven games of a season. Previously, Jim Brown shared the record with Murray with six straight efforts in 1958.

In Sunday's 31-21 win over the New York Giants, Murray ran for 128 yards, including a two-yard touchdown, on 28 carries. Sunday's performance, which also included one catch for four yards, was the 14th time in Murray's career that he passed the century mark and ninth time in the past 12 games.

Murray leads the NFL with 913 rushing yards through seven games, almost 300 yards ahead of second place. He also leads the league in attempts (187), attempts per game (26.7), rushing yards per game (130.4), rushing touchdowns (7), rushes for first down (48) and runs of 20+ yards (7).

Also in the contest, tight end James Hanna started at tight end for the Cowboys.

Stills Finds the End Zone for the First Time

Wide receiver Kenny Stills missed much of the preseason and the season opener due to a hamstring injury. He's slowly ramped his production, but broke out big for the first time this season in Week Seven. Stills caught a career-high five passes for 103 yards, including his first score, a 46-yard touchdown reception.

Though it came in a 24-23 loss to Detroit, It was the second 100-yard game of Stills' career, joining the 129-yard output he had against Buffalo in Week Eight of the 2013 season.

In the same game, linebacker Curtis Lofton posted the second-highest tackle total of his career with 16 stops. That ranks second to the 19 he had as a member of the Atlanta Falcons in a game against New England on Sept. 9, 2009. It's also the second-highest figure in the NFL this season, behind only a 17-tackle effort by Houston's Brian Cushing on Sept. 21.

On the opposite side of the ball, wide receiver Ryan Broyles was in on six snaps for the Lions.

Lewis Done for the Season

Detroit linebacker Travis Lewis saw his season come to an end on Oct. 18 when he was placed on injured reserve for a quad injury. Lewis appeared in the first two games of the season and recorded a tackle in each contest.
