Lizzie Luallin // Fr. // Forward
Luallin notched her second goal of the season in the 55th minute, meeting a pass from Chelsea Jackson on the right side of the box. The true freshman booted the shot in from 18 yards out to tie up Bedlam at 1-1 and eventually send the match to overtime.

STILLWATER, Okla. --  It had all the hallmarks of a Bedlam match: physicality, back-and-forth play and high stakes. But in the end, it was a heartbreaker of a finish for Oklahoma soccer.

The Sooners (8-4-3, 2-1-1 Big 12) fell in overtime to Oklahoma State (9-7-1, 4-1-1 Big 12) on a goal in the 96th minute of play. The loss snapped OU's unbeaten streak in overtime contests this season and marked the Sooners' first defeat in conference action this season.

The annual Bedlam series will finish in a 1-1 tie for 2014, with OU taking a win in the season-opener on Aug. 22.

The Sooner defense found itself picking off OSU chances for much of the night, beginning right away in the first half. Its defensive efforts held the Cowgirls at bay, limiting the squad to just three shots on goal on 13 total attempts in the match.

Oklahoma challenged aggressively on its counter-attacks. Rasha Roberts sent in OU's first shot of the night, hammering in a long look from nearly 25 yards out that forced OSU to make a leaping save. The Sooners got another great look in the 28th minute when Devin Barrett headed in a pass to Lizzie Luallin, who drove into the box but sent her shot wide.

Oklahoma State put OU's defense to the test midway through the half with a pair of consecutive corner kicks. After managing to bat away the first, the ball got lost in the melee following the second and Delaney Kiely was able to sneak the ball past Fahrner in the 34th minute.

A corner kick and additional shots from Laura Rayfield and Shiloh Price gave OU chances as the half wound to a close, but OSU escaped to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Oklahoma was put on its heels to start the second half, finding itself on defense for nearly the first 10 minutes of play. The Sooners defended three corners and a shot from Courtney Dike in the span before Price broke the streak with a shot on goal of her own.

OU found its breakthrough in the 55th minute when freshmen Chelsea Jackson and Lizzie Luallin connected for the equalizer. Jackson chipped in the pass ahead to Luallin, who booted in the goal from 12 yards out to the post to knot things up at 1-1.

The match increased in intensity as each team hunted for the go-ahead, with both squads trading fouls back and forth. OU got in a late shot attempt from Price that was scooped up by OSU, while the Cowgirls had a chance on a last-minute corner that OU's defenders tag-teamed to clear.

Momentum swung toward the Cowgirls again as the first overtime started. A pair of OU fouls set up OSU favorably, and a free kick from the side of the box set up a shot that dinged hard off the crossbar and nearly bounced into the goal. The Sooners managed to clear out, but only briefly as OSU came back again just moments later and set up a corner kick.

The set piece proved to be ballgame as Allie Stephenson snagged the ball and sent in the golden goal from 18 yards out.

Oklahoma will close the weekend at home in a make-up match against Baylor at John Crain Field. After the previous match was cancelled due to weather, the Sooners and the Bears are set for a 7 p.m. match on Sunday evening with free admission for all fans.
