Cody Brewer: All-American

September 17, 2013 | Wrestling

The Oklahoma wrestling program boasts six returning All-Americans for the upcoming 2013-14 season, and each Tuesday for the next six weeks, a different one will be highlighted. First up is 133-pounder Cody Brewer.

As a redshirt freshman in 2012-13, Brewer posted a 25-8 overall record and claimed a runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championship. The Kansas City, Mo., native went 4-2 at the NCAA Championship and secured the first All-America honors of his career with a 14-4 major decision over Penn State's No. 11 Jordan Conaway.

“Cody found his way to the next level at the NCAA Championships last year," OU head coach Mark Cody said. "Upon returning from nationals he took a few days off and has worked relentlessly through the spring and summer to put himself in position to win the National Championship this year.”

Check back next week to hear from redshirt senior Nick Lester.
