The countdown to the 2013 soccer season is on, with only 45 days left until the Sooners open the year on the road at Tennessee on August 23. The full schedule is available on the soccer page at SoonerSports.com

With the 2013 season fast approaching, SoonerSports.com will highlight each of the players on the 2013 squad. Each post will help fans get to know the Sooners better before watching them on the field this fall.

The first day of the Countdown introduces Daisy Cardona, a junior college standout from Ventura, Calif., and Jemma Cota.

2. Biggest Compliment given ... Being awarded NSCAA Community College National Player of the Year

3. Biggest Influence on your life ... My parents, because they have taught me so much about life and soccer and have helped guide me.

4. Strengths ... Scoring goals, my hard work, dedication.

5. Weaknesses ... My height (I wish I could be a bit taller!)

6. Favorite Candy ...Sour Patch Kids and Snickers

7. Dream holiday ... To go to Italy and Spain with my best friend.

Daisy Cardona Bio Brief
Cardona was a standout athlete at the junior college level at Ventura College. She was named the 2012 Junior College Division III National Player of the Year by the NSCAA and was also a two-time NJSCAA All-American.

Appearing at forward for Ventura College, Cardona tallied 36 goals and 31 assists in two seasons at the junior college level. She was the 2013 Ventura College Female Athlete of the Year after scoring in 11 consecutive matches in her sophomore season.
