The countdown to the 2013 soccer season is on, with only 45 days left until the Sooners open the year on the road at Tennessee on August 23. The full schedule is available on the soccer page at SoonerSports.com.

With the 2013 season fast approaching, SoonerSports.com will highlight each of the players on the 2013 squad. Each post will help fans get to know the Sooners better before watching them on the field this fall.

The first day of the Countdown features Jemma Cota, a midfielder from Gilbert, Ariz., and Daisy Cardona.

3. Biggest Influence on your life ... My parents! They talk me to never back down from greatness. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be where I am today. They always want the best for me.

Jemma Cota Bio Brief
A multi-year letter winner at Gilbert High School in Arizona, Cota helped her team to three conference playoffs throughout her career. A first team all-district selection in 2011, Cota was also an academic standout as a student.

Cota was invited to try out with the Mexico Youth National Team in 2012. She played for the Phoenix U23 WPSL squad and also played club soccer at SC Del Sol.
